Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about accounts, membership, buying from farms and selling on American Farmstand.

What is American Farmstand?

An independent online marketplace for buying food directly from American farms, plus a discovery directory of farms, farmstands and farmers markets across the United States.

Do I need an account?

A free account lets you explore the interactive farm discovery map and save places. Marketplace shopping requires a paid membership, currently $12 per month.

How much does membership cost?

Marketplace membership currently costs $12 per month. Each farm's product prices, shipping and any delivery charges are shown before you check out.

How do farms get their orders to me?

Each participating farm decides how it fulfills orders. Depending on the farm, that may be pickup, local delivery or shipping, and availability varies by location.

Can I buy from more than one farm at once?

Yes. Your cart can include items from several participating farms, and each farm prepares and fulfills its own part of the order.

Are the farms in the directory verified?

Verification varies by listing. Check the status shown on each listing, and confirm current hours, products and visiting arrangements with the business. Many listings are compiled from public sources.

Is every directory listing a marketplace seller?

No. Directory listings help you discover local food. Marketplace sellers are the farms that have joined American Farmstand to sell to members online.

What does it cost a farm to sell?

Joining is free: 0% Farmstand fees for the first year of sales, then 2% on eligible product sales. Payment-processing fees apply separately.
